International Stop the Tar Sands Day   Print

Saturday, June 18 2011, 12:00pm - 5:00pm

Join International Stop the Tar Sands Day in Toronto

On 18 June 2011, people throughout the world will be taking action against one of the most destructive and largest industrial projects on the earth – the Alberta Tar Sands.

The International Day of Action Against the Tar Sands is a worldwide movement. Stop the Tar Sands events are being held all over Canada, the United States, Europe and countries as far away as New Zealand!

Join us in Toronto at Trinity Bellwoods Park, South Gates at Queen St. West on Saturday, June 18th from noon till 5 pm.

Come out for:

- games
- music
- banner making
- information
- networking
- food and drinks

We will be following up on May 23rd's event ‘Oil Spill in Lubicon Territory: When Pipelines Fail’, where people came to get first hand accounts about the largest and most recent oil spill in Alberta as a result of the Tar Sands. We'll be collecting messages of support to send to the people of Little Buffalo as they continue to suffer the impacts of the oil spill and forest fires.

Organized by:
Greenpeace Toronto Volunteers: www.greenpeace.ca
Environmental Justice Toronto
International Day of Action Against the Tar Sands Network
